Brad and the Elves are quite talented with natural resources. They are especially well known for their carvings in ivory. Don't worry, Brad makes sure that all of his ivory stock is obtained legally and has the proper documentation for his supplies and the documentation is available upon request. Carved Ivory Pug Puppy Dog Pin This is a gorgeous piece that I've carved from pre-ban African elephant ivory. This particular ivory was evidently from a large tusk because the Schreger lines (that is the proper term for the cross hatching seen in elephant and mammoth ivory) are very visible throughout the pin, making it particularly striking as a carved Pug brooch. I carved this Pug as a young dog, not quite full grown. I inlaid the eyes and the nose using black water buffalo horn and the ears, muzzle and tongue are painted using high quality enamel paints with a clear protective coat. The ivory was treated prior to my carving it to prevent it from drying out or cracking. Measuring 2 1/4 inches long and nearly 1/2 inch thick, this pin is a must have for the Pug fan and hangs perfectly when worn. My signature and the date are inscribed upon the back beneath a nickel silver pin component which is secured with rivets.
