Ivory & Bakelite Hand holding Fan Here is a lovely hand holding a fan button that I've carved from pre-ban elephant ivory and Bakelite. The base of the button, including the fan and the cuff, is ivory and then the Bakelite hand is inlaid with a bit of enamel for added detail. The button measures just under 1 1/4 inches, has a self shank and my signature and the date carved onto the back. Price...$150.00
Mechanical Ivory & Steel Pocket Knife Button Here is a blade that you just might get away with carrying onto the plane...... This pocket knife button is carved from legal Hippopotamus ivory with a stainless steel blade which opens and closes just like a real pocket knife. Currently the blade is dull but I can sharpen it if you wish. I added silver enamel on the ends of the knife to make it appear more realistic. It has a self-shank carved onto the back and my signature and the date inscribed. The button measures just a bit under 1 & 1/8 inches. Price ......$125.00
Carved Antler Picture Button with Horse, Cat and Squirrel Carved from the base or rosette of a white tail deer antler this button pictures a pony behind a fence, with a cat and a squirrel also in the scene. The pony and cat seem to be conversing, perhaps a private matter, while the squirrel eavesdrops from the tree limbs above. I added some brown dye to better show up the details on the button and then polished the dickens out of it. This button measures 1 & 7/8 inches at the longest measurement, has a self-shank carved onto the back and my signature and the date inscribed. Price.....$125.00
Carved Ivory Good Shepherd Button
This great little steam engine locomotive Train button is carved from Jet. Jet is fossil charcoal and this particular material is mined from the Lake Bakal region of Siberia, it is very similar in quality to the Whitby jet from England. The train is carved realistically and has enamel painted details. The button measures 1 3/8 inches, has a self shank carved onto the back and my signature and the date inscribed. Price...$200.00
Jet & Mother of Pearl 2 Owls on A Limb This is a pair of owls that I carved from white mother of pearl and then inlaid into a jet button base that I carved with a limb sticking out from a tree trunk. The jet is fossil charcoal and is mined from the Lake Bakal region of Siberia, it is very similar in quality to the Whitby jet from England. I applied just a light wash of India ink to some of the carved details in the owls to add depth. The button measures just under 1 1/4 inches, has a self shank on the back and my signature and the date inscribed.
This is a great looking little fishy that I've carved from fossil
walrus ivory. This particular fossil ivory was nicely colored by
minerals as it laid buried in the ground. I utilized the brown color of
the outside of the tusk to enhance the fish's fins and also inlaid an
eye made from deer antler and cow horn. Price...$125.00
