Carved Angel in the Clouds Button

This is a gorgeous realistic button which turned out very nicely.  The beautiful angel that I've carved seems to be hovering in front of a big cloud.  The entire button is carved from pre-ban elephant ivory and features just a bit of gold enamel details around the angel's collar, cuffs, the hem of her dress and her belt.  The button measures just under 1 3/4 inches and has a self shank carved onto the back.  My signature and the date are also inscribed there.  This is a button which would also make a dandy little pin/brooch and if the new owner would prefer it to be made into one I will be happy to make the conversion for the cost of the pin component only.

Carved Fairy on a Crescent Man in Moon Button

This wonderful button is similar to another that I carved a few years ago.  It was one of my favorite designs and is a button that many people have inquired about.  This version is slightly different from the first, mainly in the fairy's pose.  The button is carved from pre-ban elephant ivory with a bit of enamel detailing.  It's a very detailed button and one that I dont' mind keeping because it turned out so nicely.   The button measures a bit over 1 1/4 inches and has a self shank carved onto the back where I've also inscribed my signature and the date.

Carved Tooth Fairy on a Molar Button

Here's a cute little button which I've carved in the form of a tiny little tooth fairy seated on a large molar.  I've carved similar tooth fairies in the past but thought it was a design worth repeating.  The button is carved from pre-ban elephant ivory and is quite detailed for its size.  It measures just under 1 1/4 inches and has a self shank carved onto the back, where I've also inscribed my signature and the date.

Carved Ivory Owl Perched on Full Moon Button

This wonderful little button is one that I've carved to depict a handsome owl perched on a full moon.  The owl has one wing outstretched as if giving directions.  The button measures right at 1 1/4 inches and has a self shank carved onto the back.  The material is pre-ban elephant ivory and there are also some bakelite/catalin inlays (the owl's beak, eyes and talons, as well as the moon's eyes).  My signature and the date are inscribed upon the back.

Carved Fossil Walrus Ivory Fish Button

Here is a great little fishy button that I've carved from fossil walrus ivory.  The fish is carved mainly from the central section of the tusk, commonly referred to as tapioca ivory because of the mottled crystalline appearance.  The brown sections on the fins is the outer portion of the ivory which has taken on color from minerals in the ground where it was deposited.  The fish is carved in detail and has inlaid eyes made from bakelite/catalin.  The button measures right at 1 3/8 inches at the longest measurement, it has a self shank carved onto the back and my signature and the date inscribed there as well.

Ivory & Bakelite Genie in a Lamp Button

Ready to grant you three wishes, this handsome genie button is carved from a combination of pre-ban African elephant ivory and golden orange Bakelite. The genie is realistically carved from the ivory and forms the base of the button, inlaid into the front is the lamp and also a tiny emerald green Swarovski rhinestone in his turban. I used enamel paints to further detail the button, which measures just under 1 1/4 inches, has self shank on the back and my signature and the date inscribed.

All of the zebra's black markings (stripes, mane, hooves, eyes & etc) are inscribed and then painted with high quality black enamel paint. I carved a self shank onto the back and inscribed my signature and the date. The button measures just under 1 1/4 inches.

Ivory When Pigs Fly Winged Pig

"When Pigs Fly" is a button that I've carved a couple of different times, each with the pig in a different flying position. The button is carved from pre-ban African elephant ivory with Bakelite eyes. Carved in very nice detail, the pig looks as if it could almost take off any second. The button measures just under 1 1/4 inches, has a self shank and my signature and the date carved onto the back.

Here is a darling little button that I've carved out of 5 different materials plus a bit of applied enamel paint.  The base of the button is carved from white moose antler and measures just under 1 & 1/4 inches.  I carved the little girl watering flowers and the fence behind her out of the antler and then inlaid the green Bakelite leaves, two small turquoise flowers and two small orange helmet shell flowers, and a nice cloudy lapis lazuli sky in the background.  The girl's watering can is painted yellow with enamel and her face, legs, arms and shoes are also detailed with enamel.  I carved a domed self shank onto the back and inscribed my signature and the date, which are then filled with dye.
